The San Francisco Chronicle recently published a story exposing Oakland's 39 percent high school dropout rate. Within that article, San Francisco was reported has having a 9 percent dropout rate, with the state of California overall at 22 percent.

The first day of spring will present a paean to our most precious resource with "Ripple Effects," an evening of music, art and education about water.
In addition to offering music by Justin Ancheta, Strange Angels Blues Band, Koralie "Sugar" Hill and Walter Ogi Johnson, and artwork by Christina Bertea, Design Action Collective, Doug Minkler, Juana Alicia, Matthew Kertesz, Matlena Hourula, Phoebe Ackley, Street Art Workers and Sven Atema, the event is a benefit for multiple organizations.

On Monday, February 15, from 12:30 - 5:00 p.m., Leadership Excellence will be offering a very unusual experience to the community. "Maafa," derived from the Swahili word for great tragedy or disaster, refers to the cataclysm of suffering surrounding 500 years of the African slave trade.
