Our Oakland: Eastside Stories is proud to announce it has reached the benchmark of 101 East Oakland stories on the web portal

The lives and experiences of our elders often get overlooked in the media age, and the technology gap between elders and youth often parallel gaps in intergenerational communication.

On a warm breezy Saturday morning on August 28, 2010, the 47th anniversary of Dr. King’s “I have a dream” speech, a small group of East Oaklanders gathered at the Eastmont Branch Library to celebrate one step forward in their dreams.

Our Oakland: Eastside Stories announces winners in the “My East Oakland Photo Contest” that the public art project hosted earlier in the summer. Open to all ages, the contest invited community members to submit  a photograph and statement expressing what East Oakland means to them personally.

Our Oakland: Eastside Stories attended the 2nd annual Love Yo’ Mama Health and Green Festival in East Oakland last Saturday, April 24.

A bustling number of families and youth attended the 3rd Annual Sobrante Park Time Bank Health Fair in the parking lots of the Community Reform Church and Lionel Wilson College Preparatory Academy to learn about health and wellbeing through a number of health and community vendors last Saturday, April 16, in East Oakland.
