Marijuana's Journey To Become Legal and Oakland's Future

California has long been consider the most “liberal” , of our 50 states. Which in my opinion isn’t a bad thing. Voters here make that ever so apparent with their support of legalizing of marijuana. Certainly a hot-bottle issue, there’s at least one pot-related story a night on mainstream news reports.

IFPA 31st World Footbag Championships Held In Oakland This week

If you’ve ever played hacky sack with friends, it was probably just for fun. But this week Oakland will host the 31st IFPA World Footbag Championships at the Convention Center. Where professional Footbag players will be focused and that last thing on their mind will be fun.

Footbag was invented in 1965 by Mike Marshall and John Stalberger.

The Soul Cypher will take place at The New Parish, and will feature an impressive line-up of poets. They include; Sunni Patterson, Amir Sulaiman, Ryan Nichole, and Poet of The Year Mr.

Aug 6th: The All Styles 2-on-2 Dance Battle In Jack London Square

This weekend Jack London Square will become a stage for some of the bay area’s best dancers, who will try to prove why their deserve “the best of the East Bay” title.

Oakland Teachers Accused Of Helping Students Cheat (Community Voices)

In school, we’ve all heard teachers say during a test, “I can’t help you on this one” or “I can’t give you answers.” I guess times have changed because two Oakland teachers have been accused of doing the opposite.

AC Transit's Contract Dispute Hurts Commuters (Community Voices)

This week many Oakland citizens became the victims of a bitter contract dispute between AC Transit drivers and their unions. Several “sick outs” were staged during the week which effected people’s commutes.

After imposing a cost-slashing contract about 20 percent of the drivers called in sick.

Two Homicides This Week, Senseless Killings Need To Stop

After a long night at work none would want to come home to gunshots. But that what happened this morning in Oakland.

According to Oakland Tribune, a 53 year old man was shot and killed in front of his home.

San Jose Mayor Pushes Foward In Attempt To Acquire A's

Tired of waiting on Major League Baseball to make a decision on the Oakland A’s and their future. San Jose Mayor Larry Reed has decided to take “measures” which could very well come back to haunt him.

It was reported today that Reed wants to push forward with putting a measure on the November ballot for the funding of a ballpark.
