As Oakland Local approaches our 5th anniversary we have an exciting announcement to make. We are redesigning and enhancing our online presence to better tell Oakland’s stories through authentic voices and in-depth reporting.

While we focus on the redesign we will temporarily pause production on new content and updates. Old articles will still be accessible, and we’ll update our Facebook and Twitter, but we will not publish new stories during October. We will return in November 2014 with a dynamic new look and feel, and a series of stories that stay true to Oakland Local’s mission to create deeper connections between our audience and our town.

Over the last 5 years Oakland Local has shed light on the lack of police accountability, been a sounding board for many community issues, including gentrification, and been a voice for those in our community who are traditionally not heard. We’ve also been an advocate for all of the good work and innovation being birthed in our town.

As an independent news non-profit, Oakland Local relies on individual donations and local advertisers to support our work. DONATE NOW to keep coverage relevant and fresh.
