Bay Localize Community Resilience Workshop

Recession, rising prices, climate change: communities are feeling the crunch. How do people build stronger communities in tough times? Support families in ways that help the planet instead of harming it? Develop solutions to multiple challenges at once? Those who are active in their communities are thinking about these questions.

No one has all the answers, but Bay Localize does have pieces of the solution that can be fit together to match the needs of communities. This Community Resilience Workshop, led by Kirsten Schwind, Program Director of Bay Localize, is for people engaged in their communities anywhere in the Bay Area to explore:

  • Specific impacts of climate change and peak oil in the Bay Area
  • What community resilience looks like
  • Assessing strengths, weaknesses, and opportunity in one's community
  • Innovative models from other communities that can be adapted
  • Identifying priorities for a community to build resilience
  • Getting involved in the bigger political change needed to address these challenges

The cost of the workshop is a suggested donation to BayLocalize for materials (a Printed copy of the Resilience Toolkit). Participants may RSVP to ania@transitionsf.org, or call the phone number or visit the website below. When signing up, participants are asked to indicate which organizations they are with and their locations.
