Changing the World Isn't Just for the Young

Do you work for a non-profit headed by an older changemaker who inspires you?
Do you have a relative who switched careers late in life to do social change work?
Do you know someone with the creativity and vision to prove that innovation isn't the sole province of the young?
Please help me identify social innovators over 60 who are putting their passion to work for the greater good in encore careers; nominate someone for the $100,000 Purpose Prize at www.encore.org/prize by March 5th.
In its fifth year, The Purpose Prize provides 10 awards totaling $750,000 to social innovators, 60 years and older, who are creating new ways to solve our most pressing social issues – from health care to the environment, poverty to education.
See who has won the Prize:
• Judith Broder, a psychiatrist who combines her experience and passion to recruit mental health professionals to provide free, confidential counseling to veterans, active-duty military personnel and their families through The Soldiers Project.
• Catalino Tapia, an immigrant who built a gardening business and then launched a grassroots program raising hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship funds to seed the American dream for Latino youth.
• Don Coyhis, a former computer executive who built a nationwide substance abuse recovery program based on Native American beliefs and traditions.
• Connie Siskowski, a former nurse who founded the Youth Caregiving Project to support a hidden population of pre-teens who shoulder adult-sized responsibilities caring for chronically ill relatives.
Please feel free to spread the word.
