At the end of September BART workers buffed a mural of Gary King, a young man who was shot by Oakland police officer in North Oakland in 2007. The action has gotten some artists and activists up in arms. Taking into account the tensions that still exist between BART and the community, is this something that BART officials should address?

Highly insensitive - especially in light of the Oscar Grant situation, my own encounters with OPD and BART officers and just a general sense of being in a police state. To have them buff over an expression of grief, as if it were dispensible seems an egregious offense. Not unlike a lot of the other false moves BART has made throughout this last year in relation to Oscar Grant's murder.
I find it all the more chilling that both of these young man's last names is "Grant." It almost feels like they "wanted" to add insult to injury. Just seems silly.
