The Oakland Merchants Leadership Forum [OMLF] is moving to celebrate and
support small businesses in Oakland for the holidays. With a series
of mixers throughout the city, they are launching a gift card program
with Oakland Grown and also launching a campaign to Shop Oakland
everyday. The last and largest mixer will be held at 5:30 this Thursday,
September 29th, at Pican restaurant, 2295 Broadway,
and will feature a
silent auction for services and merchandise from Oakland businesses
and a short presentation by Deanna J. Santana, Oakland City
Administrator.

"What we are launching with Oakland's small business month is a early
kick off to shopping local at Oaklands' 10,000+ small businesses through
out the city for the holidays," said Karen Moses King, the
chairperson of the Board of Directors at OMLF.
OMLF is also sponsoring a small business seminar on lease negotiations
on October 7th at City Hall hearing room #4 from 9am-11am. Other
seminar topics include digital business plans and alternative
financing with the support of the City of Oakland Real Estate
Department and Oakland Business Assistance Center. There are also
meetings every 4th Wednesday at City Hall Hearing Room #4 from 8am-10am
to assist, inform and enhance the Oakland business community.
