From our friends at Parks & Rec:

Mayor Jean Quan and city of Oakland's Office of Parks and Recreation invite you to the 2011 Annual Outdoor "Sundays In The Redwoods" - an uplifting music concert series nestled in the Redwoods of Oakland.

Although the first concert took place in mid-September, October will feature two concerts promising to be favorites among concert goers. The first is this Sunday, Oct. 2, with Chrisette Michele, K'Jon and Silk-E.

Each concert begins at 2 p.m. with a youth performance, followed by an array of local and nationally renowned artists and are held at the Woodminster Amphitheater, 3300 Joaquin Miller Road in Oakland. Tickets may still be obtained for $10 by calling (925) 866-9559 or by visiting SundaysInTheRedwoods.com.

Reserved tables seat eight and also are available for purchase at $125 per table, in addition to individual tickets.

Oct. 2 - The Rhythm Section: Chrisette Michele; K'Jon; and Silk-E

Oct. 9 - Talking All That Jazz: The Whispers; Avery Sunshine; and Ray McCoy

"Sundays in the Redwoods" is the signature annual event of the city of Oakland's Office of Parks and Recreation that fulfills and demonstrates the essential role that OPR plays in community health, wellness and public safety and in exposing, enlightening, empowering and encouraging educational excellence through recreation experiences.
