We fell in love with this little photo set by talented local designer, techie and dad Joe Pemberton, who has a company called Punchcut. Seems to us, every day is better with some Helvetica in in--and if that typeface is in Oakland, so much the better.

Melanie Cervantes, artist and partner in Dignidad Rebelde, has a post this weekend about how she designed Brown and Proud, the poster that she created for the Oakland May Day March that will also be sent to show solidarity with people in  Arizona who are opposing Arizona SB 170. She has a wonderful post about how she came to create this poster and what inspired her that is well worth a read.

I recently recommended Q Collection, a prestigious and somewhat-expensive eco-option for fabric you can use on furniture. This next recommendation is for the more 'modern' taste. They make great products too. Ordering by the yard will not kill your budget either. It will make a dent though, but it is competitive with what you get at the upholstery shop.
