Four Bay Area government agencies and a coalition of clean energy advocates have drafted a plan for the Bay Area to reach "zero net energy" in building electricity use by the year 2020 - meaning the nine-county area would use only as much electricity as could be produced from renewable sources.

For the 19th year in a row, Oakland hit the streets and broke records on Bike to Work Day.

Oakland saw 6 percent more riders than last year, setting a new all-time record. At Broadway and 27th Street, which has seen major improvements with new bikeways and signage, the number of people riding by on bikes this Bike to Work Day increased 40 percent from last year.

Special Event Part of 10-10-10 Global Work Day to Celebrate Climate Solutions

WHAT: Volunteers from Sungevity, the leading online residential solar provider, will install 11 solar panels at Oakland’s Green Youth Arts and Media Center (GYAMC) this coming Sunday, October 10, 2010.
