Last April, Knight Foundation and the Federal Communications Commission challenged developers and citizens from across the country to develop apps that deliver personalized, actionable information for the Apps for Communities Challenge.

The prizes? $100,00 and more for live, shipped apps entered into the contest.

InOak, an emerging collaborative for innovative, technology driven businesses in Oakland hosted its second annual end-of-the year awards event on Oct. 27 at the Rooftop Garden at Kaiser Center.

More than 150 people showed up at the Kaiser Rooftop last night to mix, mingle and share their conviction that Oakland has the power to grow as a center of Tech and business innovation.  Sponsored by InOak, a new organization of local tech companies (including Oakland Local, a founding member), the InOak party was an early-fall event that had even Mayor Dellums out and about.
