The Alameda County Alcohol Policy Network (APN) will hold four workshops in June for Oakland residents who want to learn how both the City of Oakland and State of California enforce alcohol regulations and ways in which they can use the enforcement process to their benefit, perhaps in relation to a neighborhood liquor store or bar they are concerned about.

This upcoming Wednesday, June 2, organizers will hold their second planning meeting for a new 50-acre waterfront park slated to be built in Oakland at the foot of the eastern span of the Bay Bridge.

At the workshop design concepts for the Bay Bridge Gateway Park will be presented for the public to comment on in small group discussions.

If Police Chief Anthony Batts has his way, Oakland will be one of the safest large cities in the state come 2015.

He released a strategic plan Feb. 19 that he said will become more specific as community members tell police their priorities in a series of public forums scheduled through March.
