On Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 6:00pm PST the streets of West Oakland will host a candlelight vigil held in front of 526 Henry Street, Oakland, CA in memory of Elder Berresford “Berry” Bingham; a beloved father of three children and known throughout the neighborhood as the “Community Dad.”  Bingham was the Political Director for SEIU 1021 and a 20 year retired veteran of the United States

A vigil for 17 year old Chris Jones was held on Friday, January 7, in East Oakland. Jones was gunned down in the driveway of his home while putting his niece in a car seat by unknown assailants.
