When we debuted The Bay Abridged mixtape and told folks it would be a monthly series, there was excitement and confusion. "I love the June edition," stated one Oakland native, "but is there really enough quality Bay music for you guys to keep this up?" Our answer is a resounding, yes.

July’s third Summer Sounds concert will feature the Cuban rhythms of a well-renowned artist who’s a native of the country.

The forth Summer Sounds concert will showcase an award winning band by the name of Zydeco Flames, which won the 2009 North Bay Music Award in the category of World/International music. Recognized as the West Coast’s premiere Zydeco band, the group regularly plays for packed houses.

The third concert in the Oakland City Center’s Summer Sounds series will feature the talented band Dynamic. The group – which blends hip-hop, rock and soul – was named “One of the Best Hip Hop Bands of the Bay” by the San Francisco Chronicle.
