Friday afternoon, members of the Sustainable Business Alliance (SBA) met at Swan's in old Oakland to hear about Oakland Grown. The SBA recently 'adopted' Oakland Grown, which is a natural fit because local is usually more sustainable, and is definitely good for local businesses. The main speaker was Erin Killmer-Neel, who told SBA members about Oakland Grown and the new gift card program.

One of the Oakland Museum of California’s most-anticipated annual events is the community celebration commemorating Días de Los Muertos, or the Days of the Dead.

This year’s was no exception, as hundreds of folks - especially, families with little ones - flocked to the museum to honor one of California’s most sacred traditions.

‘Tis the season to be jolly, right?

However, during the past year, Walmart has been blasted for child labor and Target contributed to anti-gay efforts. Thoughtful consumerism that contributes to a sustainable local economy is much more likely to bring peace and joy this holiday season.
