Gov. Jerry Brown today said that state revenues are likely to be $6.6 billion higher over the next 13 months than predicted in January and that about half of that gain will go towards K-12 education funding, as required by law.

Good news for Oakland teachers.

The Oakland Unified School District said it will rescind the layoff notices given to 231 elementary school teachers. The district also is hoping to rescind at least a few more notices given to middle and high school teachers.
