The year is 1981. 

Oakland resident Emily Rosenberg is taking her newly adopted dog for a walk through her Rockridge neighborhood. When she arrives at the small, empty park down the street, she looks up and sees a sign with big, glaring letters which read: "NO DOGS."

Spring is definitely in the air! 

The weather is turning warmer - despite light showers midweek - and there are promises that it will stay that way. Flowers are starting to bloom and the urge to weed out the garden is at full throttle.

For some time, the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center has been fenced off and piles of concrete sit across the street on the south end of Lake Merritt. It’s the beginning of a two-year, $35 million construction project that will produce a new four-acre park and replace the current 12-lane expressway with six lanes and bike lanes.
