The 1968 exhibit hit me in the face with the bitter memories of a time when I was young enough to be cannon fodder and old enough to understand the tragic, insane direction our society was headed. You walk in the door and there is a real life helicopter sitting on the museum floor.

I didn’t like the Parkway Theater ... I loved the Parkway!

The old Parkway had double feature Wednesdays for $5, a couch option, pizza and beer. What more could you ask for?

Hundreds of people came out to the Oakland Museum this past Saturday for the Dia De Los Muertos/Day of the Dead Celebration.

There were musicians, crafts people, food vendors and a great exhibit - VIVO: Days of the Dead 2010. In addition to the gallery show, there was dance by Besh Beni and Chan Kahal, music by SonRisas and Ixim Tinamit and ceremonies with Ernesto Olmos.

Visitors also made their own masks, calaveras and tin ornaments.

Earlier this month, Oakland Local sent my daughters – Mimi & Cici – to cover the opening of “Pixar: 25 Years in Animation” at the Oakland Museum of California. Here's what they had to say about their experience.
