July’s third Summer Sounds concert will feature the Cuban rhythms of a well-renowned artist who’s a native of the country.

Fito Reinoso y su Ritmo Y Armonia will bring a taste of Cuba to the Oakland City Center Plaza beginning at noon, Wednesday, July 21.

Fito Reinoso is a singer-songwriter, who began his musical career by playing tres and bass in the streets Candekaria, in the province of Pinar del Rio, Cuba. At age 12, he joined the Orquesta Gloria de Cuba and in 1980, arrived in the U.S. and began making his impact on the Bay Area Latin Music scene. Reinoso has been nominated for a Grammy and also has played alongside several Cuban legends.

Ritmo Y Armonia, Reinoso’s band, have played at numerous Bay Area venues including Yoshi’s, the San Francisco Jazz Festival and the San Jose Jazz Festival, to name a few.

Oakland can experience the sounds of Cuba while lunching, from noon to 1 p.m., at Oakland’s City Center Plaza, between Broadway and Clay and 12th and 14th streets.
