Oakland is one of those rare cities where supporting local music is a unique pleasure. Evening Soul at The Washington Inn (495 10th Street in Oakland) is the self-proclaimed “new upscale venue of choice for Oakland.” It runs on the second Friday of the month from 9:00 p.m. to midnight.

This month, on Friday, March 11, Evening Soul hosts ZON26, “a professional on-line network for musicians based in the Bay Area. [Its] website is home to an eclectic mix of emerging independent artists in Northern California. [They] showcase exclusive interviews, live performance footage, and feature music from Soul to Metal, Jazz, Hip Hop and beyond.”

The featured artists for this performance are: The Dime, BSoulz, and Sabrina-Michelle. ZON26’s website has photos, videos and more information on each, as well as advance tickets for the show. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door, and bottle / table reservations are available as well: $150 for Ciroc/Grey Goose (includes admission for 4), and $100 for House Champagne (includes admission for 3).

Evening Soul does have a dress code: no T-shirts, tennis shoes or athletic gear, so guests are encouraged to dress to impress. Wearing potentially pinchy shoes seems like a pretty decent trade-off for all the great music and fun.
