Children’s Fairyland is proud to partner with national and local agencies to host all of the children from Oakland’s Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program on Friday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

At this event, the celebrated storybook theme park, located at 699 Bellevue Avenue in Oakland, will welcome close to 300 children and adults who will engage in activities geared toward increasing youth literacy. “We’re pleased to partner with Oakland Rotary 3 to provide a special day for all of our city’s TK kids,” says C.J. Hirschfield, Executive Director. “Fairyland offers many experiential activities that are geared exactly for this important age group, and that will help prepare them for kindergarten in the fall.”

Programming will include live readings from Raising a Reader, interactive art projects led by MOCHA (Museum of Children’s Arts), special puppet shows at the Storybook Puppet Theater, and time to enjoy the 10-acre park.

Children’s Fairyland is America’s first storybook theme park, located on the shores of Lake Merritt in the heart of Oakland. Fairyland offers programming and activities that engage and enliven families, and underwrites the cost of visits for thousands of low-income children every year. Since 1950, Fairyland has been the low-tech, high-touch outdoor playground for young children to create, imagine, play, and learn.
