Smokey’s Tangle, an artist-run gallery in the Temescal neighborhood, was invited to take over Temescal Alley’s Interface Gallery for a month-long art show and residency in February. The show commemorated Smokey’s Tangle’s 5th anniversary and showcased artwork and projects by owners Emily Wick and Brian Brooks.

Continuing Smokey’s Tangle’s tradition of unusual photo booths and interactive exhibits, visitors to the gallery were invited to be photographed and join an ever-growing diorama, allowing everyone to join a single group photograph.

The photo contains nearly 300 people–artists, musicians, dogs, kids, neighbors, shoppers and friends who happened upon the gallery during the month–capturing approximately .07% of Oakland.

The photo has also been posted on Smokey’s Tangle’s Facebook page where participants can tag themselves.
